Could life get any better? Westboro's pitiful contingent countered by 300 bikers and had to run away with their tail between their legs. Guess "God" was on break since he/she didn't intervene an allow then to carry out their divine mission, LOL.

Related story: WBC tries to protest at Arlington, runs into KKK.

I have politicusa on my FB...So I did see it today...so cool...the video is a bit shaky, but it was too funny to see the guy run, and the 'crowd' go after him...and I just love what a 'supposed' cop said..."run you stupid M F, run"....

Don't mess with bikers...

Watched the KKK link too..amazing. I haven't often liked what they have said or stood for, but, this is something that all Americans should be standing up for...the KKK GW was saying even he served for 9 years, and what WBC is doing is so disrespectful of our soldiers...that I can agree with.

As one commenter said, "How bad does a group have to be for the KKK to protest them?"...

Now, just WHAT would the Westboro nutcases have to protest in Joplin??

Now they are just TRYING to piss people off, aren't they?

I do recall asking the for various bike clubs to do this exact thing a while back. I am so happy to see it actually working.

Not quite the same as a soldier's funeral but maybe they will get the message this time?

Or are they trying to say it was God's way of punishing the US again?

As I understand it, God is not vengeful.

I think God is letting us deal with the world alone, to see if we can actually pull it together or die trying.

KKK or Hell's Angels. It got the message across.

I guess Bikers have freedom of speech also. It is kinda-sorta freedom of speech in the face of Westboro's freedom of speech. But I don't have a problem with that.

Its wrong to do it, and its wrong of me to laugh, but the mental image of the guy being told

RUN YOU STUPID &*%#$^@&$%^#!!!

by the police who are trying to protect him from the bikers makes me giggle. It is guilty pleasure I know, I should not take any joy in such lawless conduct.

I am glad he got away though with no reported injuries other than to his t-shirt. I hope he is okay and learns to practice a bit more discretion in whether or not to walk into a crowd he expects to be hostile. Thinking oneself a martyr is one thing, actually trying to be one, not a good call.

@ Mongowildman -

I think God is letting us deal with the world alone, to see if we can actually pull it together or die trying.

We as a nation have stopped calling on Him. We have loudly proclaimed that He is not, or that He is only pure love and acceptance and has no sense of right or wrong. God does indeed have wrath, but not yet. We are in the age of grace, where His love is indeed calling to us, even in the midst of our hateful and angry rejection of Him. If God had ANY thing to do with Joplin, Missouri, it would be that he has steeled the heart of the people with resolve, and if there's any sense of His wrath, it's that He allowed it to happen, and is saying, "See? I alone have the power to protect, bless, and build up. Without Me, corruption has it's way, and this includes destruction."

Remember Joseph in Egypt. He was raised to the position of 2d ruler in the Kingdom of Egypt so that through his wisdom Egypt might be saved from the 7 year famine. Point is, the 7 year famine still happened.

Unfortunately Levi, you are right. As a nation, we have caved in to the minority of atheists and probably the Muslims too, by striking the name of God from public places. They forget that this nation was created by mostly believers and spiritual people and would rather see that destroyed.

I for one am insulted by the policies of this country, which lay down and coddle those whiny crybabies because that tiny minority is offended by the rest.

What about the majority? I thought this was a kind of democracy where the majority was the rule. Are those in the majority offended as I am? Probably, but the big difference is that they would prefer a peaceful coexistence and acquiesce to maintain that peace.

This is a lot like when I was in school, where just a few students had the entire school scared of them. Nobody would stand up to them because they did not want it to come down on their heads. Eventually, I did stand up to one in particular and there was a revenge motivated attack on me later on by one of his friends. That still did not deter me. That was what it took to break that cycle of fear and it was not instantly either.

These guys who stood up to the WBC cult had a serious advantage. Some times, that advantage needs to be used. The majority has that same advantage and they need to wake up and face these special interests down.

Ash, I did comment on the article. Have you got something against the majority rule? Do you have a problem with the fat that the majority of the people in this country are not atheists? Does it bother you that someone might mention the fact that special interest groups are crippling the country? Which ones are you a member of? Are you one of those crazies in the WBC cult? Just wondering, since you seem to think you need to throw rocks here.

Oh, so THIS is what trolls do... Duh! I didn't recognize it at first,

Some of us walk the line others are all over the place deviating from what we claim is the "norm". Understanding each other is often difficult but not impossible.

We as a nation have stopped calling on Him.

We never did "call on Him," because we are not a Christian nation; we are a secular nation and always have been.

I thought this was a kind of democracy where the majority was the rule...Have you got something against the majority rule?

We are also not a country of majority rule; we are not a democracy -- we are a constitutional republic.

Do you have a problem with the fat that the majority of the people in this country are not atheists?

Just because the majority of people in this country may be Christians does not make us a "Christian nation," or one of "majority rule". We have never been either one of those things.

Perhaps both of you need to read the Constitution.

Let me take a stab at a conspiracy theory. The money WBC pays for, 12 adults to travel within the US. Include lodging
Meals and transportation.

I went for a weekend it cost me $1500. So just were does this money come from?

I searched a little found that WBO defend its actions as "right to free speech" case against father of soldier.

Folks any way you look at WBO has big money budget. Oh ya.

Americans have to come to the aid of one another. Together we are one, divided... not so much

In exchange we get security law and order. Now it's, watch what you do, don't be out at night lock doors...

Our American society as no community. Suspicion as replaced common sense. When I grew up there were local organizations that took up 12 city blocks. We had little get togethers and summer parties. Henry Ford built a Lake and Camping resort his employees and families.

The bikers came hard, like old school. The FOOL that walked into those brothers. Was looking for trouble. From the video he continued to taunt them after the cops came. I guess he was trolling for personnel injury law suite.

The cops gave that good advice to the fool. Far I'm concerned that was the end of their reonsiblity.

I don't know why WBC would spend their own money to go and insult and anger Americans.

Someone said:

I wish someone would make an appointment for the Westborough losers to face God directly.

Everyone has that appointment already, we just don't know when.

The WBC will be really disappointed though, because God isn't going to judge them on the curve like they think. He isn't going to judge anybody for the things they had nothing to do with: such as the sex lives of others, the greed of others, the evil deeds done by others for their own gain, ... as long as we didn't take part in it by allowing it, justifying it, helping the cause along through saying that cause is acceptable, ... we will have nothing to answer for except what we did , or didn't do in His Name.

I really enjoyed the fact that the bikers stood up to them, because the WBC is not acting in His Name, but they are acting in the name of our enemy the devil. When even the KKK looks better than them they should check their evilness meter. ;~)):~))

Oh and for all of ya who want say God isn't here or He doesn't exist. Good luck with that come your day to face Him. Just try telling Him He doesn't exist or you don't believe in Him, I'm sure you'll be convinced that He does. :~(( :~((

It truly boggles my mind that no judge in their right mind can't see these people committing harassment crimes against people that are trying to bury their loved ones in peace.

Why don't the people get together and go to their land and blow all their horns day and night and harass them.

I forget, it's a crime to harass these ignorant people, but it's ok for them to terrorize people that are trying to bury their kids and family members.

Just end all this religious bs in America. We really don't need it anymore.

They gone too far in invading the people's lives and their homes, now they feel the need to attack the dead.

END RELIGION! Save your money, spend more time with family and friends. Make these sick pastors get a freaking real job and pay their taxes like the rest of us do.

Everyone's forgetting something. WBC may have visited Joplin for a day to try to protest, but who do you think has been there since the start giving aid to these people??

That's right, folks...churches and religious organizations. Probably 9 of every 10 people giving aid to those people right now are from faith-based organizations. Who do you think FEMA calls on to provide hydration, shelter, food, and other emergency services? Most of the organizations are faith-based organizations. Instead of focusing on those people who have come together from all over the country to provide help, we focus on the one group of crackpots.

You can hate religion all you want. These organizations won't deny you services when it's your house that gets flooded or obliterated by a tornado. They don't ask if you are a Christian, a Muslim, or an atheist. But, if you tax them, they may run out of money before they come your way.

Not because they got a tax break and could afford it.

Doctors save lives, patients come to them, doctors to not invade their private lives and homes either. Charity is the giving alms and it should be done in secret. It should be given from the heart. It should not be used as a tax break.

Charities formed to make it easier for someone to give, but they also have to raise money to cover administration costs.

Churches do not always help. There people who have gone to their church in time of need and were turned down. Charities, especially religious charities, can be very selective as to who they help. There are churches that have food pantries to give food to the needy that won't help their own congregant.

The main thing is to give and give willingly.

Notsojingo and Huskergal,

You're missing the point. They don't get a "tax break" to do what they do. They're already tax exempt, so they don't need one. Being tax exempt; however, frees up more money for them to put back into these programs, though.

What I think people don't realize is that FEMA doesn't do all the actual work themselves. They rely on nonprofit groups such as the The Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Lutheran Disaster Relief, etc., to provide many of the disaster relief services that are going on right now in Joplin. These are the groups that have employees and volunteers that are trained in disaster response. These are the groups that are ready at a moment's notice to jump in a vehicle and go. Federal funds take time to release. There are channels that have to be gone through. In those critical first hours and days, these organizations, and NOT the federal government, is who is doing the work. They work directly with local emergency management and provide whatever they are asked to. Once FEMA is involved in something it is usually only financially. Disaster ridden areas usually continue to utilize these organizations because they are the ones who are trained and equipped to handle things effeciently.

I work and volunteer with a major nonprofit organization that is a first responder to disasters. We are still in Haiti and Japan, and have been in Joplin since the first day.

You can't choose a lot of things in life. For a less "obscure" example. Every time someone who is "Atheist" kills a person I do not go out and scream that they should all be rounded up and done away with. If you really want obscure, try punishing an entire group of people for one small groups actions. Take for example banning motorcycles because the Hells Angels ride them. Stupid, just like trying to rid the world of all Christians because of the idiots at Westboro.

I do not condone the Morons at Westboro, and I am fine with any group confronting them about their ignorance and hatred, but I feel that it is shameful to punish an entire group for a few peoples actions. But, here in the U.S. we have done it before. Prohibition is a fine example.

Christians are just as guilty of this as anyone else. An example would be how a large majority would not vote for a person for political office based upon their atheism. Many also use the "Stalin/Mao/Pol Pot" excuse.

Here's the difference: Atheists do not worship genocidal madmen like Stalin or Mao as Gods.

Stalin was an Atheist. Mao is an Atheist. Therefore, all Atheist must be like Stalin and Mao and their followers. That is the conclusion I come up to based on your faulty reasoning. No difference.

Obviously I do not pray to the same god as WBC. My God doesn't protests funerals and ask for praise when our soldiers die. You are trying to pigeon hole every Christian. Like I said, your reasoning is flawed. If you want to create an agenda against Christians, then that is your perogative, it's a free country. Just don't try to defend it when there is no way to do so. Have a great day.

You are going to have to show me where the Christians in the Modern Day USA, not 100's of years ago, did some crazy @!$%# like that. Using obscure refrences from thousands of years ago is rididulous.

Exactly. When was the last time, other than maybe some looney from the Green Party, that a person came out and ran as an Atheist openly. Believe me the Green Party and many other small independents are not voted against due to their religous beliefs. They are just too @!$%#ing crazy for anyone to take serious.

You're missing the point. They don't get a "tax break" to do what they do. They're already tax exempt, so they don't need one.

PearlOfPrice, you missed my point completely. I am taking about giving Charity, not Charities. Give from the heart and not for the tax break.

I see the God haters are out.

I do not see any God haters. I see non-believers and people that were hurt by the "Church;" the people of the Church, not all Christians, Jews, or Muslims, etc. It is our right, guaranteed by the Constitution the right to speak freely.

Do what you want. Spread your message of hate. I have no problem with that. The plain and simple truth is that you guys are judging a bunch of people because of what a small group has done. It would be like me hating all doctors because one performed a bad surgery on me 20 years ago. You got to let it go eventually or it will rule you. Good luck to you anyway. Speak about whatever you like, that is what the GBC does.

Okay great. So one doctor being a pervert does not equate to all of them being one. All any of you can do is solidify my point. Women and Men get molested, raped, and beaten everyday. You have to learn to cope and move on eventually.

The Biker image of lawless behavior is very well earned, and yet I do know that there are motorcycle clubs that do not engage in such actions. There are even Christian motorcycle clubs.

One thing I can tell you, and you can be sure of this: The WBC crowd will see the opposition as persecution. Persecution of true believers has ALWAYS strengthened their resolve.

Or just the perception of it. Witness the squawking of Christians on the internet when someone has the temerity to question their beliefs, which my friends, is not persecution.

That is a 1%er. The cliche is 1% of bikers/bike clubs engage in lawless behavior. Peasant uprisings are lawless behaviors.

It doesnt ALWAYS strengthen their resolve. One must have delusions of grandeur or another delusional disorder to not perceive the threat to self.

The WBC may "perceive" themselves as "true believers", but I have yet to see or hear anything that is truly Christian from this group of malcontents and haters.

Never in my life did I ever think that I would agree with something the KKK stood for or said. But they are right, we should be respectful of our military. Our living veterans, those that have passed on, and those currently serving deserve far better than we have given.

Wow, I'm floored. Still don't like what that organization stands for, but in this we are in agreement.

Oh to be sure! But I'm thinking it should be done in the sweetest, nicest, with childlike innocence, adorable sort of way possible. Go way way out towards the opposite of what these creeps have done to others. Personally, I think it would break their wee little heads with the confusion of it. Since they would expect the same brand of hate they like to serve up all hot and steaming topped with dog poo.

A long time ago, almost all of my friends were bikers. When you have friends like that, it can be both a curse and a blessing. This would be one of the better things.

I have lost contact with most of them after more than 30 years but I know that even to this day, I can call one of many if I needed a favor, just as they can call me. (at least those who are still alive) No bridges burned and once family, always family.

Bikers are pretty tough hombres, not much scares that bunch, except maybe a really petite woman, (giggles). However, I doubt there are many groups that would inspire a stronger sense of brotherhood or loyalty than these guys have.

I also don't think they look scary either TR but have heard a lot of people say they do. My buddies on the island are part of a huge biker group and they are simply divine. I was raised with people just like most of them and they were mighty fine people. I knew if I had a flat tire or any other problem they would be first up to help. That's how it was and is for the most part. Of course I came from a time when helping each other getting each others backs was a given.

Hi Raised, its good to see you, its been a while. Have much respect for bikers, and know guite a few, some go all the way back to high school. Red or blue, black or white and all others in between, share a common feeling for this cult of hate. It is a shame how they persecute the families of the victims, and make the worst day of their lives even worst. The bikers do a fine job of protecting these families, and every person thanks them in their thoughts, for what they do.

I've known a few; and rode a Honda Scrambler for a few months; but gave all that up. I still have the "Zorro" shaped scar on my thigh from a nasty meeting with a Chevy wheel well. Still, I think most of the bikers have a reasonable set of morals. Lots of them are vets. Nevertheless, we had some hardcore Hell's Angels in Topanga when I was in my youth; interesting people; but not anyone I'd want to meet when I wasn't armed.

I've been on and off; seen you on a Soph post or two; but I think we are not on at the same time. DIL just returned from China; so, we've been catching up.

The tornado in Joplin took a chunk out of a lot of people's hearts. And the westboro nuts decide to show up spouting their crap. Those @!$%#heads are real lucky that there were some cops there.

It's amazing how fast bikers can mobilize for a rally...

I do believe the tolerance for the WBC and their nonsense has about run out. Folks are just plain tired of this group disrupting sacred ceremonies such as funerals and memorials among other nonsensical sites for their "protesting".

They may be on borrowed time at this point. There has been a serious escalation in push back by the general populace of all walks these past few months. I worry that someone will do something stupid to land themselves in jail for an extended stay. Not that the WBC isn't deserving, imo, would just rather not see any good people pay a serious price because of these jerks.

I bet that more than a few of those bikers were vets. Westboro is the fanatical sect that shows up to the funerals of troops killed in the Mideast with posters calling them "faggots."

This hate propaganda that might have fueled by the hate machine Fox News has to stop! They have again presented another angry side that can't deal with the truth, i would call it crazy.

Many of the biker crowd are just down home good old boys. They don't take any crap off of anyone and don't want their rights messed with. They want the gun laws off limits and usually are quite conservative which seems a bit odd but truly isn't. They are very good people for the most part and stick close together. Many are retired military. I think the old Hells Angels propaganda that was overblown and used unmercifully has a lot to do with biker reputation that and a lot of them are so rough looking and scruffy we wonder what the heck is going on with them.

Come on now. Most people in the biker subculture, aren't Hells Angels, or Banditos. They are just everyday middle class and working class folks who like to dress down or up, and ride their bikes around, and socialize with people like themselves. Most of them would happily call themselves "biker trash wannabees" and be perfectly happy that they are in their hearts not trash...

They get involved with "toys for tots", and other charity organizations. There is the Christian Motercyclist Association, that a former boss of mine used to belong to. There is my next door neighbor, who just has a nice bike.

They are just people, like you or me...

Or the whole bombing clubhouses and/or opening fire on other members in a public place type of behavior... The Hell's Angels and any many other biker clubs do not need any propaganda spin from anyone - many of their crimes are obvious, well documented and a danger to the public.

There are thugs wearing every type of outfit one can imagine. They often make a mess of the reputation of others looking the same but not behaving the same. I personally know some old bikers and they are harmless. I've also known a few I would give a wide berth. Those that are a danger to the public Santino are an entity of their own and are not to be confused with the peaceful bikers that ride for good causes.

Old retired bikers are not what I'm talking about. You mentioned the Hell's Angels - they are a group that uses intimidation and violence to get their way. The same as many other biker groups across the country - it's the Outlaws by me.

I used to know quite a few 1%er types, when I was young and stupid. Definitely not the same as your average biker. Talk about dangerous. Most of these guys were addicted to Meth, some were on heroin. The worst of the worst, were convicted felons, packing heat, under their jackets. Sometimes under their colors.

Definitely not the kind of people to rally to Joplin Missouri, wave American Flags, and counter-protest the Westboro Nuts...

Exactly JS...here in Sacramento every Nov/Dec thousands of bikers show up here to encircle the California Capitol building, each bike has a toy...it's the annual toy fun run and you can hear it from a mile away...it's so awesome to see bike after bike go by...

And I would have to agree, the majority of bike riders are very nice 'middle class' people and they do have a certain amount of money since those bikes are more expensive than a lot of cars on the road...they ain't cheap. If you look carefully at the bikes, you can see that they are well taken care of, and expensive...

i grew up with bikes, everyone I knew had at least one...the Harley and something else...My dad used to ride his across the country...he did the Sturgis run a few times...Until his Agent Orange side effects kicked in and couldn't hold the bike any longer...he hated to sell his bike...My best friend has one and goes on the 'Frozen Nut' ride there in CO every winter on her Harley...My boyfriends had bikes, my hubby had one...bikes are fun I loved riding...We don't have one at the moment...pooh

Hells Angels and Banditos had a nasty little war going on up here a few years back. Blowing up each others club houses and killing each other. All over territory for the drug/prostitution/weapons trades. Ugly business.

Thank goodness MOST bikers are simple everyday people. (bankers, lawyers, farm hands, cowboys, ranchers, construction workers, mechanics, etc.) We've tons of them come to town every weekend. Most know my Monkey-man by name now and happily talk "bikes" with him.

And all the proceeds to Joplin for rebuilding, please! I'll take one of each.

Absolutely RaisedByWolves! Mass production should be reasonable. I happen to have an in-house graphic artist to assist with design. I'm going to take this idea seriously and see how I might pull it off. The bikes need to be represented on the product that's for sure. I'll just keep pondering and mulling over the idea while I transplant copious amounts of plants.

Sounds good. We should keep this seed alive or start another? How does NV feel about becoming a headquarters for this great, innovative charity?
